Have you ever heard about the traveling garden gnome? It kind of goes like this: Cherished garden gnome goes missing from older couple's yard. Owners are devastated. A few weeks later, a postcard arrives from Paris with lots of love from the gnome and a few words of explanation for going on a walkabout. Photos of the gnome riding a camel, camping at Everest base camp and surfing in Fiji follow over the course of the year. One fine day, gnome turns up back in the garden and life goes on as nothing had ever happened.
The garden gnome inspired us. Here's something similar with a competitive twist for Club Fat Ass members...
Determine the most exotic place a Club Fat Ass t-shirt visits or the most cool adventure a t-shirt has during the a calendar year.

As the year came to a close, there were some interesting battles going on between the top finishers in the 2011 Travelling Colors Competition. Tactics included: promoting t-shirt photos on Facebook and Flickr with the message to friends and family being, "Vote for me!" All's fair in love and war!

The Travelling Colours Contest 2007 is almost coming to an end. If you haven't submitted your 2007 photos of you and your Club Fat Ass shirt yet, better get going. All submissions must be uploaded to Flickr before 31 December 2007. Please add them to the Club Fat Ass pool and tag them with TravellingColoursContest2007. I also recommend to tag them with TravellingColoursContest and ClubFatAss
I have noticed some Club Fat Ass shirt photos on Flickr, but not in the Club Fat Ass pool. If one of those photos is yours, better add them to the pool soon to not miss out.
The judging will happen directly on Flickr this year. The photo listed as the most interesting will win. Views, comments, favorites are all taken into account to come up with the most interesting photo. Currently, the Alamo Fat Ass, aka mudrunner, is in the lead. Do you have the shot to beat him?
To participate in the judging, please browse the photos in the CFA group tagged with TravellingColoursContest2007 at www.flickr.com/search/groups/?q=TravellingColoursContest2... and comment or mark as favourite to your hearts delight.
The winner will be announced early in the New Year.
Please remember that in order to participate you will need to set up your own free Flickr account and join the Club Fat Ass pool. If you do not want a Flickr account you may send your photos to your Chief Executive Fat Ass and I will add it to the Club Fat Ass account. Commmenting/voting does require a Flickr account.

| #48 and #49. Just a quick update to let you know that a small but fun bunch of the local Club Fat Assers left the cold and snow on the ground a week or so back and went over to warmer climates for some training er... running. We all planned our winter warm weather escape and went and ran the Honolulu International Marathon, held December 10th. Everyone with our group finished the marathon with times in the 3:45 to 6 hour range. It was a hot and hard course... But yes, while we were out there running we were all thinking of it "as a great training run" for the Jan 1st event. Should be pretty similar conditions right?? Ha-ha...Please see the attached shot of our group, left to right Dan, Sheldon, Ruby,Carie, Diane, Rhonda, and Pete SS. 3 generations of proud Fat Ass shirt wearers.Anyway, if you get a sec and want to post a fresh warm weather picture on the site go ahead and use this one with the above data if you like.Cheers, Pete PS You would have laughed, I wore my CFA shirt to the big expo and had no less than a half a dozen people stop me and compliment me on it. One guy (Ithink he was from Boston) was all keen on signing up for the club just so he could get a CFA shirt... | |

Takakkaw means "magnificent" in Cree. And it is. I love how the top of it "blasts" off a ledge and down over a thousand feet to finally hit the bottom. Very powerful. | #36. | #34 - #24. Peter writes: "You may remember that I was forced to the sidelines in 2005 due to injury. It was good to take a breather as I focussed on coaching Daniele (mybetter-half) to her first marathon. She even ran my 50K race in July!!Still, I've missed trail running too much so to get back in form I ran the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim during our July vacation in Arizona. Too bad it was during record temperatures of 115C in the shade.I have enclosed a series of pictures I took during this solo run in the heat. I doubt that any of them are suitable for the Travelling T-shirt display (too small) but I thought you'd enjoy them none-the-less.Geologically speaking, descending into the canyon is a descent into history as one passes ancient sedimentary layers until reaching heaven in the form of "Vishnu Schist" at the Colorado River. I was awestruck by the time-travelling aspect of descending into the canyon so I thought it was appropriate to travel backwards in CFA history with the t-shirts as well. Ciao,Peter" Peter wore 3 generations of Club shirts (red, blue and black) during his descent and ascent of the Canyon. Pictures of him in the red and blue shirts during this run are posted in the photo gallery: http://www.clubfatass.com/image/tid/49 | |

| #19. Glenn writes: "This was taken in Memphis, Tennessee at the World Chamionship BBQ Cookoff ...also known as "The Superbowl of Swine". I thought it was perfectly appropriate for our Club Fat Ass mascot...in fact a few people saw the shirt assumed I was from one of the teams. So here I am stuffing my face with some award winning BBQ ribs from the Bodine Team...no apologies to our vegetarian members." | #20. Geoffrey getting ready for his kicks on route 66 |

So, when the agriculture students at Takushoku University in Fukagawa, Hokkaido, Japan, saw Rhonda show up in her hat and this year's Club Fat Ass colours, they knew it was time.
