FINALLY bagged a peak!! Just in time! SLY, Sunday 23 Oct 2011, 13:50:38.

Well, we did it. We bagged a peak in the 2011 Bagger Challenge. It's the shortest peak in the list (except for those Howe Sound Island ones), and rated "eK" (easy and suitable for Kids), but we did it! On the last possible day - unless we wanted to do an after-work in-the-dark bag... given the "nod to safety" in the preamble to this year's Challenge description, probably not the greatest idea??!

Shoes for sale! Clearing out the house in prep for moving!

I have several pairs of brand-new shoes from before I switched to wearing fivefingers all the time. I bought shoes online several pairs at a time (after buying my first pair at a local running store to support them) & now I have a whole bunch that I don't need, so I'd love to sell them to you for a great price!

2011 Spaghetti Trees Results

Spaghetti, anyone? East Sooke Regional Park, where the sun is always shining...

...except when it's not :)

But seriously folks, it IS sunnier in Victoria! And windier, and we have bigger waves. And our trails are really cool! Come find out at this year's Spaghetti Trees run Saturday April 2, 2011. Also, our beer is better. You can find out more about that after the run...

a blog about beer, and sometimes about running

my husband (who has joined us on at least one CFA run! maybe 2? i can't remember exactly!!) writes a rather amusing blog about beer, and his most recent installment was also about running (so that he can drink beer...). the picture here is featured in his blog post - near the top of Mt Finlayson in Victoria. and no, i'm not wearing a dress, but i am wearing fivefingers! i thought some of you might like his story, and the rest of his blog too:

My "run" at 4000m: from Laguna Quilotoa to Chugchilán, Ecuadorian Andes in May 2009

[I've re-posted this so it shows up in my Blog on CFA - I didn't do that correctly the first time around, sorry!]

[thanks very much to Sybille for helping me figure out how to add pix!]

HA HA HA HA!

 This is pretty awesome, folks.

BC Ferries Survival Tips

So, even before I became a True Blue Vancouver Islander, I was a frequent flier (swimmer?) on BC Ferries. I guess I've had a bit of a love affair going on with island life ever since my family moved to the West Coast (from, yes, sigh, the Greater Toronto Area) when I was 10.

Vancouverite no more

So, I've moved to a different part of this gorgeous province of ours... I only had the chance to take part in two (or three? I can't remember) CFA events before I moved away from Vancouver but they were SUPER fun. And now I'm wondering if any of you are over on the Vancouver Island side of the water? I'm living in Victoria now, right near the Lieutenant Governor's house (within spitting distance of the garden, if you stand on the balcony - you're welcome to come over and give it a shot!).
