February 2006 Event Host News

Promoters of oddball endurance events and a healthy outdoor lifestyle

Hi,

It's just the start of February, and we've already enjoyed 3 great Club events. The roster of events for 2006 now stands at 27. Thank you for being one of the very special people who give back to the community by hosting a free Club event!

It's tough being an Event Host. Who do you go to for help and advice? How can you share your hints, tips, beefs and other thoughts that only fellow Event Hosts would appreciate?

Think Your Bad Ass is a Fat Ass?

November 19 is your chance to prove it. Of the 200 or so members, I expect to see at least 50 for Nov 19, Go Home. It's 20km of pure satisfaction so get your ass off the couch and come out for a fun run. I know of a couple runners that want to run close to 2 hours or faster. A few special awards for this event which will be revealed at the after party!

See ya there and happy trails

Blogging for Event Hosts

With our new website come some great interactive features. Thanks to those of you who experimented with the new site, posted comments, stories, images, forum topics and updated their own event website. It is exciting to see the site grow in content and popularity with your input.

A few of you have asked if the Club Fat Ass site has blogging capabilities.
The answer is "Yes". Some of you might have noticed that Ean, Geoff and I just started to blog on the Club Fat Ass website: www.clubfatass.com/blog/3 (Ean's blog) www.clubfatass.com/blog/19 (Geoff's blog)

Event Host Committe - Meeting Minutes - 2005-08-04

AGENDA

Event Host Coaching Tasks

This page is a follow-up to the first CFA event host committee meeting held in February 2005.  It's a living list of issues to discuss with the Event Host you are coaching.  It starts out approximately one year before the event so there's lots of time to get things done without stress.  It's assumed that these "coaching sessions" will happen over email or the phone.

12 Months

  • review event website.  Note instructions that are not clear, links that don't work, grammar, etc.
  • review attendance objectives.  Are the objectives realistic and within scope of Club (e.g. 10-100 attendees)

Event Host Committee

This page is a follow-up to the first CFA event host committee meeting held in February 2005. The objectives of the meeting were to come up with ways:
  • for current CFA Event Hosts to help new Event Hosts and one another

  • to ensure some manner of consistency across CFA events so Club members have a general idea of what they should expect at an event
